Amelia Manor Nursing Home Study
To evaluate the effectiveness of Chitosil Liquid Bandage, a study was conducted at Amelia Manor Nursing Home. The purpose of the study was to compare the wound healing capabilities of the Chitosil Liquid Bandage versus the standard Triple Antibiotic Ointment (TAO) currently used in wound care.
In the study, patients were chosen with typical “skin tears” which are common among elderly patients. The skin tears in the evaluation were of comparable size and depth. The two patients treated with Chitosil experienced rapid healing with the wounds resolved in 11 days in one case and 14 days in the second. The wound treated with the standard TAO took 63 days to be resolved. The results demonstrate a significant difference in the healing rate for skin tears. Faster wound healing is beneficial for both the prevention of infection and quality of life for the patient.
